Maria Lamont is the perogie factory girl Alexandria in EAST OF EUCLID

 

Maria Lamont was born in Winnipeg, and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Theatre. She trained at the Vancouver Playhouse Acting School, and has performed in leading roles in theatre across Canada. Selected credits include White Biting Dog, Last Respects (Tarragon Theatre Toronto), Oleanna, Les Belles Soeurs (Manitoba Theatre Centre). Lamont was the first graduate of the Stage Direction programme of the University of Toronto Opera Division at the Faculty of Music. Since her graduation she has worked as a director or an assistant director for many opera companies around the world. Lamont has been the recipient of two grants from the Canada Arts Council. She is also the director and co-creator (with playwright Judith Thompson) of a new music theatre work called Enoch Arden on Soraurin, based on the melodrama Enoch Arden by Richard Strauss.

Maria Lamont received the “Best Supporting Actress” award at the 2005 New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.
